Lohengrin

Myt, dröm och maktkamp

Opera in three acts.

In the Duchy of Brabant, Gottfried, the son of the recently deceased duke, has mysteriously disappeared. His sister Elsa is accused of having murdered him. Elsa prays for the knight she has seen in her dreams to prove her innocence. From nowhere, an unknown knight then appears in a boat drawn by a swan. His only condition for defending Elsa is that she should never ask his name or from where he comes.

Dreams, magic, history and politics – all find a place in Wagner’s romantic opera from 1850, which begins and ends on the banks of the river Scheldt. Stephen Langridge is an internationally renowned opera director who is convinced of the power of opera as an art form for everyone. He runs several educational projects, including Share Music Sweden, for professionals, non-professionals, the disabled and the young.
