Daniele Callegari
Daniele Callegari is Principal Conductor of Orchestre Philharmonique de Nice at Opéra Nice Côte d’Azur, starting from season 2021/22 and for three years. From 1998 to 2001 he was Principal Conductor at the Wexford Opera Festival. From 2002 to 2008 he was Chief Conductor of De Filharmonie / Royal Flanders Philharmonic Orchestra in Antwerp.
Born in Milan, he has begun his outstanding career as orchestra conductor after being for more than ten years a permanent member of Teatro alla Scala Orchestra. M° Callegari has conducted such symphonic orchestras as Münchner Rundfunkorchester, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Orquesta Nacional de Madrid, Orchestre National de France.
A regular guest at world leading opera houses, he has conducted in several important productions, including Il trovatore and La Gioconda at Metropolitan New York, Turandot at La Scala di Milano, Rigoletto, Madama Butterfly and Il trovatore at Opéra National de Paris, La traviata at Staatsoper Berlin, L’elisir d’amore at Wiener Staatsoper.
His latest performances include Macbeth at Opéra de Nice, Aida at Staatsoper Hamburg, I pagliacci at New Israeli Opera Tel Aviv, Adriana Lecouvreur at Opera de Oviedo, Rigoletto at Gran Teatre del Liceu de Barcelona and at Teatro La Fenice in Venice.
Among the other project for season 2022 La Gioconda at Chorégies d'Orange and La traviata at Metropolitan Opera New York.
