ROMEO AND JULIET
The Royal Swedish Orchestra interprets Alfvén & Prokofiev
Ballet is not all about unforgettably beautiful dance, it is also about unforgettably beautiful music. The Royal Swedish Orchestra is celebrating the art form by performing a ballet music concert on the Main Stage – arranged to suit the format.
Enjoy one of Sergei Prokofiev’s best-known works, the ballet Romeo and Juliet, in the form of a suite by the composer. We will also hear music by Hugo Alfvén, whose 150th anniversary is celebrated this year with suites from The Mountain King and The Prodigal Son, two ballets that were first performed at the Royal Swedish Opera in 1923 and 1957 and choreographed by Jean Börlin and Ivo Cramér respectively. New, extended arrangements of these two works have been made by Tobias Ringborg, who will also lead the Royal Swedish Orchestra in a concert that will set your soul in motion.
