For the first time ever, Jiří Kylián, Mats Ek och Ohad Naharin will work alongside one another at the Royal Swedish Opera. They belong to a generation of choreographers that, within their respective genres, have touched and delighted audiences all over the world as well as inspired a joy of dance. This is an opportunity for the Royal Swedish Ballet to shine and show their diversity and skill – the audience will be dancing in their seats!

WINGS OF WAX
How close to the sun do you dare to fly? What would happen if you fell? The Royal Swedish Ballet performs Jiří Kylián’s acclaimed ballet, inspired by the Icarus myth. It is a tale of pride and catastrophe, but also of hope and joy. Wings of Wax was first performed by the Royal Swedish Ballet in 2018. It is a highly visual, lyrical work that clearly expresses Jiří Kylián’s vast vocabulary and creativity.

WOMAN WITH WATERA
woman is dancing with a table. She is given a glass of water that will quench her thirst and sustain life. Then she drinks the water. At last, Mats Ek is back at the RSO! Woman with Water is a new work inspired by Ek’s thirty years as a choreographer. Together with the Royal Swedish Ballet, he has created a contemporary ballet of extraordinary power, emotion and energy.

MINUS 16
The legendary choreographer Ohad Naharin, also known as Mr Gaga, has a unique approach to the body and movement. Thousands of people across the world attend gaga classes. This new, powerful production of Minus 16 is teeming with energy and music ranging from traditional Jewish tunes to mambo and techno. Naharin and the Royal Swedish Ballet ends the evening with a memorable piece that will make the audience dance in their seats …
