Three of the world’s pre-eminent choreographers have placed their masterpieces in the hands of the Royal Swedish Ballet in a performance that showcases the very best in contemporary dance. For the first time ever, Jiří Kylián, Mats Ek och Ohad Naharin will work alongside one another at the Royal Swedish Opera. They belong to a generation of choreographers that, within their respective genres, have touched and delighted audiences all over the world as well as inspired a joy of dance. This is an opportunity for the Royal Swedish Ballet to shine and show their diversity and skill – the audience will be dancing in their seats!
WINGS OF WAX
How close to the sun do you dare to fly? What would happen if you fell? The Royal Swedish Ballet performs Jiří Kylián’s acclaimed ballet, inspired by the Icarus myth. It is a tale of pride and catastrophe, but also of hope and joy. Wings of Wax was first performed by the Royal Swedish Ballet in 2018. It is a highly visual, lyrical work that clearly expresses Jiří Kylián’s vast vocabulary and creativity.

The legendary choreographer Ohad Naharin, also known as Mr Gaga, has a unique approach to the body and movement. Thousands of people across the world attend gaga classes. This new, powerful production of Minus 16 is teeming with energy and music ranging from traditional Jewish tunes to mambo and techno. Naharin and the Royal Swedish Ballet ends the evening with a memorable piece that will make the audience dance in their seats…
For the first time, the legendary choreographers Mats Ek and Ohad Naharin will collaborate in including Ek's woman with water as a part of Naharin's Minus 16.
