Classic Christmas ballet Nutcracker back at the OPERA

The popular Christmas adventure is back at the Royal Swedish Opera. The two orphans Peter and Lotta, who live with Aunt Green, Aunt Brown and Aunt Lavender, are about to celebrate their first Christmas. The children do not want to go to bed, so they ask if they can sleep under the Christmas tree. Christmas night turns out to be a magic night of wonder and excitement.

The Nutcracker, a classic ballet with a score by Piotr Tchaikovsky, is one the Royal Swedish Opera’s greatest hits. This popular version was choreographed by Pär Isberg in 1995 in a setting that refers to the illustrations in Elsa Beskow’s children’s story Peter and Lotta’s Christmas.
