ROYAL SWEDISH ORCHESTRA – SOLO!

The backbone of the Opera is the Royal Swedish Orchestra. Music unites our different art forms, defining and underpins our entire operations. On a couple of occasions each season, you will have the opportunity to get a little closer to Royal Swedish Orchestra, whose almost 500 years of creative energy can be enjoyed in unique concerts.

CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL WITH THE ROYAL SWEDISH ORCHESTRA

1–3 september 2018 Guldfoajén

One weekend in September, the Royal Swedish Orchestra will split into several smaller orchestras and play three concerts in the Royal Swedish Opera’s beautiful Guldfoajén. Energy and musical merriment are in focus in this more intimate format in which the musicians come into contact with the audience. The Royal Swedish Orchestra’s three concert masters, Tale Olsson, Jannika Gustafsson and Anders Nilsson, will each be leading an orchestra.

The concert will feature music by Roman, Berwald, Alfvén, and Lindholm, ending with a performance by composer Torbjörn Helander, who in his day job plays viola at the Royal Swedish Orchestra.

In a long-awaited guest performance at Västerås Concert House, the Royal Swedish Orchestra meets the renowned American-Chinese conductor Xian Zhang. The programme features the overtures from Wagner’s The Mastersingers of Nurembergand The Rite of Springby Stravinsky.
