SHORT STORIES II
A tailor-made concept for new Swedish opera
The performance lasts about 1 hours 30 minutes.
Sung in Swedish
What will the opera of tomorrow sound like? Three Swedish composers present three new short operas based on real events. Sigrid H. is inspired by Sigrid Hjertén, a much-loved artist whose paintings never cease to inspire. The comedy Jag kommer hem (I’m Coming Home) goes straight into a comical conversation with a marriage counsellor. Value Creation is a bizarre story, inspired by film noir, that looks deeply into the moral mire of the world of finance.
Following a critically acclaimed production in 2016, the Royal Swedish Opera present Short Stories, a tailor-made concept for new, Swedish opera that offers composers and librettists a chance to write for the opera stage. Short Stories II invites three contemporary composers ¬– Andrea Tarrodi, Malin Hülphers and Viktor Åslund – to try their ideas in the small format.
