Cello concert & film launch
23 March, 19.00 in the Golden Foyer
With its warm, melancholy, beautifully human sound, the cello is one of our most beloved instruments. It offers solace and support, it inspires courage and wonder, it entertains and gives us stories. A great deal of wonderful music has been written for the cello as a solo instrument.
At this concert, you will hear music by Jean Sibelius, Anna Clyne, Einojuhani Rautavaara, Dai Fujikura and Johan Ullén from Kati Raitinens new album The World is (Y)ours.
She has put together a selection of highly evocative works that all mean something special to her.
The filmmakers Tina Axelsson and Arvid Unsgaard have been inspired by ‘The Dark Triad’ a piece of music composed by Johan Ullén for Kati Raitinen. ‘The World Is Yours’ is the title of the last movement. The film will premiere on the night with music performed live by Kati! Kati Raitanen is a solo celloist and member of the Royal Swedish Orchestra. She has won two Grammy awards with the ZilliacusPerssonRaitinen trio, and she has been shortlisted for the award five times. There is still a chance that she will bring home her third Grammy for an album with chamber music by Amanda Maier!
Duration: Approximately 1 hour. No intermission.
