TRINITY

Two masters, Jiří Kylián and Angelin Preljocaj, are back at the Royal Swedish Ballet with narrative works based on epic tales such as Greek mythology’s Icarus and Archangel Gabriel’s meeting with the Virgin Mary. Rounding up this triple-bill is a new piece for the Royal Swedish Ballet by choreographer Lukáš Timulak, inspired by the avant-garde movement of the 1920s.

Here, the Royal Swedish Ballet demonstrates its tremendous breadth in an exclusive programme of three internationally acclaimed choreographers. A unique chance to experience ground breaking choreography performed by a company skilled in both classical and contemporary technique.

ANNONCIATION

The starting point in many of Angelin Preljocaj’s works is a historical event or a myth. That’s also the case in Annonciation. Here, he moves Archangel Gabriel’s meeting with the Virgin Mary to our times, creating strong girl power in a modern and intimate interpretation.

TOTALITY IN PARTS

Lukáš Timulak is a choreographer who works in close collaboration with artists and composers. This creation, made for the Royal Swedish Ballet’s dancers, is inspired by the avant-garde movement of the 1920. Space and visual impressions are explored, creating a new sense of space that breaks against past form.

WINGS OF WAX

Wrapping up the evening, the Royal Swedish Ballet is once again presenting a work by Jiří Kylián called Wings of Wax. This visual, atmospheric work, inspired by the myth of Icarus, distinctly demonstrates the enormous vocabulary and creativity that Jiří Kylián possesses.
