Katarina Leoson has made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York in recent seasons as Maddalena in Rigoletto. She most recently returned there as Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro. She has guested at Oper Frankfurt where she performed the role of Lucia Vingradito in Rossini's La gazza ladra. She has sung Cornelia in Handel's Giulio Cesare at the Finnish National Opera and Olga in Eugene Onegin at NorrlandsOperan.
Since 2001, Katarina Leoson has been a member of the soloist ensemble at the Royal Swedish Opera, where she has appeared in a large number of roles. She has sung Carmen in three different productions. Katarina portrayed Orphée in Mats Ek's critically acclaimed production, which also toured to Oslo. Other significant roles include Klytaimnestra in Elektra, Pauline in The Pique Dame, La Zia Principessa in Suor Angelica, Ulrica in Un ballo in maschera, Geneviève in Pelléas and Mélisande, Amastre in Handel's Xerxes and Suzuki in Madama Butterfly.
Katarina has sung several roles in Wagner's The Ring. She has portrayed Erda in Das Rheingold and Siegfried, Rhendotter Flosshilde, the Valkyries Siegrune and Schwertleite and the first Norn. This year we hear and see Katarina as Fricka in Die Walküre.
In the 25/26 season, Katarina sings the witch Jezibaba in the premiere of Rusalka and participates in the newly written opera Eatnama váibmu (The Heart of the Earth).
