Sofie Asplund has been a regular guest at the Royal Swedish Opera, where she has sung Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos, Constance in Dialogues des Carmélites, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Susanna and Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro, Olga Sukarev in Giordano’s Fedora and Oscar in Un ballo in maschera.
For several years she has been engaged as a guest at the Göteborg Opera with roles such as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos, Aminta in Die schweigsame Frau, Gilda in Rigoletto, Musetta in La bohème, Gretel in Hansel und Gretel, Waltvogel in Siegfried, the Foster Sister in Herr Arne’s Penningar by Gösta Nystroem, Zerlina in Don Giovanni and La Folie in Rameau’s Platée.
Sofie has appeared at the Norwegian Opera as Gilda (Rigoletto) and Cunegonde in Bernstein’s Candide, visited the Drottningholm Palace Theatre (Vivaldi's Il Giustino and Il matrimonio segreto) as well as the Staatsoper Hamburg and Opernhaus Basel.
In 2019, she sang Anne Truelove in The Rake’s Progress in a European tour with the Münchner Philharmoniker together with Barbara Hannigan’s Equilibrium Young Artists. At Malmö Opera she sung Oscar, Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier and Pousette in Manon. She has played the title role in Lisbeta, a role specially written for her by Karólina Eiriksdóttir. At the Vadstena Academy she has sung Lydia in Pride and Prejudice and Laura in Star Cross’d Lovers.
In 2021, Sofie released a CD with Britten’s Les illuminations and Debussy’s Ariette’s Oubliées, nominated for a Swedish Grammy. She graduated from the University College of Opera in Stockholm in 2013, has been awarded the Schymberg Award and the Sten A. Olsson Culture Scholarship in 2018 and the Rosenborg-Gehrmans Scholarship in 2015. In 2013, she received both the Anders Wall and Birgit Nilsson Scholarship.
