The end is near for Violetta Valéry. Her body is ravaged by tuberculosis. She takes every day as if it is her last, and she spends her nights in an intoxicated daze. Double standards and bigotry stand in the way of love. Soon, Violetta has no alternative but to meet her fate.

La traviata premiered in Paris in 1853 and is one of Verdi’s most popular works. Ellen Lamm’s and Magdalena Åberg’s interpretation of the opera, which focuses on political oppression and duplicity, first premiered in 2019.
