In Requiem, 150 singers, dancers and musicians come together to create a spectacular theatrical experience. Through dance, set design and costumes, Verdi’s dramatic mass takes on a new form.
Through powerful visual imagery, movement and Verdi’s beloved music, director and choreographer Örjan Andersson explores how people confront grief, darkness and life-changing events – but also how something new can begin when the old has been lost. The movement and imagery amplify the music’s sudden shifts between calm and chaos, darkness and hope.
Throughout the work runs a recurring theme of beauty and the human capacity to find comfort in one another.
When the great opera composer Giuseppe Verdi wrote his requiem, he created a work whose quiet reflection and overwhelming power have moved audiences for generations.
