Be on time
Arrive in good time before the performance starts - preferably at least half an hour - you will have time to find your seat, check in your coat in the cloakroom and maybe eat and drink something. When the performance has started, no one is allowed into the auditorium until after the first interval.
Audience introductions
45 minutes before most opera and ballet performances, a 15-minute introduction to the evening’s performance is held in the Guldfoajén, The Golden Foyer. The introduction is free for tocket holders.
Text machine
The auditorium is equipped with a text machine. Please note that the only available translation is in Swedish.
Find your way around the house
As soon as you enter through the doors, you will be greeted by our ushers - ask them, they are here to help!
Tickets
Tickets bought online can be printed or presented digitally on a smartphone or similar. Your has a barcode and is valid for a specific performance. The barcode is activated when you buy the ticket. It is possible to print a new ticket or send a new one via email from your account at operan.se (if, for example, you have lost your original ticket). If you print a new ticket or send a new one via email, the original ticket is invalid.
The barcode is unique for each ticket and is valid only once: this means that the ticket scanned by the usher first is valid. Therefore, handle your ticket with care and do not share the barcode with others via f.ex. social media.
Cloakroom
For safety and evacuation reasons, outerwear and bags should be left in the cloakroom. You can pay the cloakroom fee when you buy your ticket. If you wish to add cloakroom later, you can prepay digitally (where you order interval service), and can also be paid by card or Swish in the staffed cloakrooms (30 SEK per person, children free). On the north side of the 2nd balcony we have an unattended cloakroom without a fee where you can leave outerwear - however, bags may not be left unattended. Please avoid bringing larger bags with you to the Royal Swedish Opera.
Length of performance
To find out the length of a performance, check the Productions' section.
Programme
Programs are for sale in the staffed cloakrooms and in the boxoffice. The programmes are in Swedish (with at least a synopsis in English)and the charge is SEK 60 per program. You can also buy programs when purchasing your tickets online and later collect it on site (nb. the cloakrooms).
Payment
For your security and convenience, all interval refreshments, the cloakroom charges, sale of programmes, the restaurants and terraces are cashless. You are welcome to pay by Swish, credit or debit cards.
Photography and recording
Please note that the use of cameras, video recorders, audio recorders or other types of recording equipment during performances is strictly forbidden.
Mobile phones
We would like to remind you not to have your mobile phone switched on in the auditorium (please set it to airplane mode or turn off completely) and to avoid other disturbing actions. If you feel that other guests are disrupting the performance, please contact one of our ushers during intermission for assistance.
What to wear
