Anna Putnikova was born in Siberia and began studying the violin at the age of six in Barnaul with her teacher Elena Shelepova. In 2009, Anna moved to Moscow, where she continued her musical education. From 2010 to 2014, she studied at the Academic Music College in the class of Tatiana Balashova, with whom she continued her studies at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory from 2014 to 2019. In 2022, Anna moved to Germany and studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln in the class of Prof. Nadja Nevolovitsch until 2025.
During her studies in Russia, she worked as a substitute in various orchestras in Moscow, and in 2019, she obtained a permanent position in the first violin section of the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, where she worked until 2022. In 2023–24, Anna completed an internship with the Sinfonieorchester Aachen and then collaborated with this orchestra multiple times as a substitute. She moved to Stockholm in 2024, and in the same year, began working at the Royal Swedish Opera. In April 2025, she became a permanent member of the Royal Swedish Orchestra.
In addition to orchestral playing, Anna is passionate about chamber music and pedagogy. Her achievements include First Prize and a Special Award for the performance of works by Sergei Prokofiev at the International Competition for Young Performers Dedication to Sergei Prokofiev (Moscow, 2015), as well as Third Prize at the Second All-Russian Violin Competition named after N. A. Goldenberg (Saratov, 2016).
