Dimitris Paksoglou was born in Athens, Greece, and began his artistic career as an actor, studying at the Veaki Drama School. He performed on several of Greece’s leading stages, including the National Theatre, the Athens Megaron, and the ancient theatre of Epidaurus, before turning his focus to singing. He studied vocal performance at the Athens Conservatory and continued his training with distinguished singers such as baritone Kostas Paschalis and soprano Marina Krilovici, receiving early recognition with a first prize for his achievements.
After completing his studies, he established himself internationally and made his operatic debut in France as Radamès in Verdi’s Aida at the Stade de France in Paris, in a performance broadcast on French television. His success abroad led to engagements as a principal tenor with the Greek National Opera, where he has since appeared in several leading roles.
Paksoglou has built a wide-ranging repertoire including roles such as Cavaradossi in Tosca, Don José in Carmen, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Alfredo in La traviata, Des Grieux, Turiddu in Cavalleria rusticana, Manrico in Il trovatore, and Gustavo in Un ballo in maschera. He has also appeared as Macduff in Macbeth, Pollione in Norma, and Adorno in Simon Boccanegra.
In recent years, he has continued to expand his dramatic repertoire with acclaimed role debuts as Otello in Rijeka and Heraklion in 2022 and Don Carlo in Maribor in 2023. That same year, he appeared as Radamès in Zaragoza and Madrid, and as Manrico at the Estonian National Opera. In 2024, he returned to Estonia as Cavaradossi and Manrico, and also appeared in the world premiere of Jonas Forssell’s Death and the Maiden at Malmö Opera.
In autumn 2025, he took a further step into the Wagner repertoire with his debut as Tristan in Tristan und Isolde at Norrlandsoperan. He has collaborated with conductors and directors such as Errico Fresis, Loucas Karytinos, Juanjo Mena, Laurent Campellone, and Stephen Langridge, and continues to appear on opera and concert stages across Europe.
Dimitris Paksoglou makes his début at the Royal Swedish Opera in the spring of 2026 as Calaf in Turandot.
