Hear the world-famous actor John Malkovich recite from Ernesto Sabato’s classic novel On Heroes and Tombs. In addition, Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons will be performed by The Funäs Chamber Soloists.

The evening begins with the chamber orchestra The Funäs Chamber Soloists performing one of the most beloved works in music history – Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, an inexhaustible source of imagination, power, and beauty that has inspired generations of musicians and listeners for over three hundred years.

After the intermission comes the performance Report on the Blind, where John Malkovich portrays a man’s intense and dark search for the origin of evil in the world. Malkovich’s powerful stage presence is combined with Alfred Schnittke’s expressive Concerto for Piano and String Orchestra, performed by The Funäs Chamber Soloists and the brilliant pianist Anastasya Terenkova.

    The Funäs Chamber Soloists consists of distinguished string musicians from across Europe and is led by the internationally acclaimed violinist and conductor Massimo Quarta, winner of the prestigious Paganini Competition and a regular guest on the world’s major stages. The first part of the concert is devoted entirely to Vivaldi’s music – without any recitation by John Malkovich.

    The concert is produced by Kammarmusikens Vänner, a non-profit association that since 2006 has organized over 75 festivals and thousands of classical music concerts throughout Sweden.

    The association collaborates with leading international artists, soloists, and conductors, as well as with young musicians from all over Europe. Its mission is to spread, revitalize, and renew chamber music – to let it resonate not only in concert halls but also in churches, small towns, and unique settings from coast to mountain.

    Through festivals, the association aims to create encounters between music, people, and places, where chamber music becomes a bridge between generations and cultures – a living cultural heritage in constant evolution.
