Mattias Gunnari was born and raised in Strängnäs. Since 2025 he has been a permanent member of the Royal Swedish Opera chorus.
He has previously freelanced as an opera, concert and oratorio singer. Soloist highlights include appearances at the Royal Swedish Opera as the Prince in The Snow Queen by Staern, and in Berwaldhallen in Nielsen's Fynsk Foraar, together with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra.
Other notable opera roles Mattias has performed at various stages around Sweden include Ferrando in Cosi fan tutte, Tamino in Die Zauberflöte and Ramiro in Rossini's La Cenerentola.
He is also a frequently hired soloist in the church concert repertoire, and is regularly heard in performances of Mozart's Requiem, Bach's Passions, Handel's The Messiah and other sacred works.
