Elisabet Strid is one of Sweden’s leading dramatic sopranos and an internationally acclaimed interpreter of Wagner and Strauss roles. She has appeared at major opera houses such as the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Teatro Real in Madrid, and the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm.
She made her debut here in 2003 as Antonia in Les Contes d'Hoffmann. In 2020, she sang Sieglinde in Die Walküre (Operan Play), and in 2023 the title role in Salome.
In 2024, she debuted as Senta in Die fliegende Holländer at the Royal Opera House in London, and from 2025 to 2027 she will sing Brünnhilde there in a new production of Der Ring des Nibelungen conducted by Antonio Pappano. She also performs Isolde in Tristan und Isolde in Copenhagen, Geneva, and Luxembourg, and makes her debut as Tosca in Helsinki.
Her other roles include Salome, Chrysothemis in Elektra, Elisabeth in Tannhäuser, Sieglinde, Freia, Rusalka, and Minnie. She has also appeared at festivals such as Bayreuth, Ravello, and the Wagner Days in Budapest.
Strid is also a sought-after concert soloist with a wide-ranging repertoire and has collaborated with conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Kirill Petrenko, Esa-Pekka Salonen, and Antonio Pappano.
In 2024, she was awarded the Litteris et Artibus medal by H.M. the King for her outstanding contributions to Swedish musical life, and she was named Singer of the Year in Opernwelt Jahrbuch 2020 for her Sieglinde in Gothenburg.
