THE ROYAL SWEDISH BALLET on tour in Gothenburg & Umeå


The Royal Swedish Ballet visits Gothenburg and Umeå with two successful performances. Don't miss the chance to experience the ballet classic Swan Lake - in Rudolf Nureyev's acclaimed version, for the first time in Sweden - as well as the modern dance classic Midsummer Night's Dream by the ever-current Alexander Ekman.

Swan Lake to Gothenburg

On May 21-23, the Royal Swedish Ballet will go on tour and perform Nureyev's Swan Lake at Göteborg Opera. The praised performance, which premiered at the Royal Swedish Opera in 2021, will be performed with the Göteborg OperanOrchestra conducted by Andreas Hjort.

3 2 MIDSOMMARNATTSDRÖM 2024

Midsummer Night's Dream to Umeå

During 2024, Norrlandsoperan begins a new collaboration with the Royal Swedish Ballet by playing Alexander Ekman's magnificent Midsummer Night's Dream on May 31 and June 1. The piece, which Ekman created in 2015 for The Royal Swedish Ballet, portrays a magical summer night and is performed by more than 40 dancers. 

The music is composed by the New York-based composer Mikael Karlsson, who, in addition to several collaborations with Ekman, has written the opera Melancholia, which premiered in Stockholm at The Royal Swedish Opera in 2023.
