royal swedish opera chorus

A chorus that never stands still...

Bears, vampires or three-legged can-can dancers… The Royal Swedish Opera's chorus masters singing at the absolutely highest level while both acting and dancing on stage. The 54 chorus members represent 13 different nationalities and are educated at opera colleges around the world. Together with the Royal Swedish Orchestra, the chorus form the backbone of our performances and sometimes even share the stage with the Royal Swedish Ballet!

The chorus was formed at the premiere of the opera Thétis and Pelée on January 18 in 1773 at Bollhuset. Since then, it has been an indispensable part of the Royal Swedish Opera's activities.
